Vince Young had his first practice with the Green Bay Packers on Tuesday. He will be competing with Graham Harrell and B.J. Coleman to be Aaron Rodgers’ backup quarterback. When Young was released by the Buffalo Bills by the end of training camp in 2012, he decided to spend the next year training in Austin, Texas, where he previously attended the University of Texas. He was happy to spend time with his family and his roots.
Young feels that competing for the position of backup quarterback shouldn’t be too much of a challenge for him due to his career’s ups and downs. Given his history of being drafted third-overall as a starting quarterback by the Texan Titans in 2006, going to Philadelphia in 2011 for a year, and being released by the Bills, Young feels he has grown up considerably. He is now married and considers himself more mature than he has ever been.
Although, Young was released by the Bills last year, he never feared for his career. He had stayed in contact with many of the NFL teams. Even the general manager of the Green Bay Packers, Ted Thompson, has no problem with taking on a player who has had many ups and downs in his career.Google+
