Derek Jeter, done for the rest of the year. The New York Yankees officially said that Jeter is done for 2013, which includes any post-season games. Jeter, trying to be as positive as he can, explains that he will be there to route his team on. As you can imagine, Jeter is very disappointed to have to return to the DL list. He has not really ever fully recovered from his broken ankle in season 2012 against the Detroit Tigers.
Many people are questioning if Jeter will ever be back to play baseball again. Jeter feels that he will and he will be back strong. He didn’t take enough time off to let his ankle heal all the way. So, when he tried to come back, it would just be injured again, and he would have to go out again. Having already missed the first 91 games of the season and trying to come back only to play a couple of games, then be put back on the DL list, is a sure indication that he did not take enough time off to heal all the way.
With a veteran player such as Jeter, if he takes the right amount of time off to let his injury heal all the way, many fans will agree that he will be back strong for the 2014 season.
